Will grew up on the east coast, running cross country and playing year-round sports.  He earned both a BS and MS in chemistry while playing lacrosse for Virginia Tech.  After school, he had started competing in CrossFit and was still running competitively, but was looking for something more sustainable long-term.  His uncle put him on a mountain bike in 2014 and he never looked back.  Those early years were just for fun with some XC and marathon races mixed in, but his competitive nature led to him getting more serious about training.  Over the past five seasons he has won more than 20 races in the US MTB Series, claiming four state and four regional titles during that time, including both the Pro/Open and SS divisions in the same season.  In 2021, he trained and raced all over the country, from Maine to California, winning the NUE Marathon Series title.  This past year, Will made his first appearance with Team USA at the XCM World Cup in Snowshoe, WV.  He currently rides for Specialized and Flow Formulas.

As a coach, Will leans on his deep background in chemistry and professional knowledge as a critical care paramedic and medical educator.  Process-based training, recovery grounded in sleep and nutrition, and purposeful development of mental strength are keys to his own program and that of any athlete he works with.
